Welcome to NCYC Sail Camp
Our sail camp provides a fun, safe, and educational environment where young sailors can learn the fundamentals of sailing or advance their skills to the next level.
The North Cape Yacht Club Sail Camp is designed for youth ages 8-16 and is open to both members and non-members. Our program is staffed by US Sailing certified instructors who are passionate about teaching the sport of sailing and fostering a love for the water.

Skill Levels
We organize our instruction based on experience level to ensure each sailor receives appropriate challenges and support:
Beginner Level
Perfect for sailors new to the sport. Learn basic sailing terminology, boat parts, rigging, and fundamental sailing skills in a supportive environment.
Intermediate Level
Build on foundational skills with more advanced sailing techniques, weather awareness, and introduction to racing tactics.
Advanced Level
Refine racing skills, advanced boat handling, strategy, and tactics. Prepare for competitive regattas and championship events.
Daily Schedule
A typical day at Sail Camp includes:
Check-in and morning briefing
On-shore instruction and drills
On-water sailing instruction
Lunch break (bring your own)
Afternoon sailing session
Boat care and daily debrief
What to Bring
- Coast Guard approved life jacket (PFD)
- Water bottle
- Sunscreen and hat
- Packed lunch and snacks
- Change of clothes and towel
- Closed-toe water shoes
- Rain jacket (weather dependent)
Safety First
Safety is our top priority. All participants must wear Coast Guard approved life jackets while on the water. Our instructors are trained in CPR and first aid, and we have safety boats on the water at all times. We monitor weather conditions closely and follow established safety protocols.
