You Don't Need a Boat to Sail

One of the great aspects of North Cape Yacht Club is that you don't need a boat or experience to get started. Many of our members would be happy to take you out and "show you the ropes," and some of our most active members crew for other members but don't have their own boat. We are a diverse bunch and there's room for pretty much everyone.

For Crew Members

Looking to get out on the water? The Crew & Boat Board connects you with skippers who need crew for:

• Wednesday night racing
• Weekend regattas and races
• Cruising adventures around Lake Erie
• Day sails and pleasure cruises
• National and regional championship events

For Skippers

Looking for additional crew? Many members welcome crew opportunities and bring valuable skills:

• Experienced racers and competitive sailors
• Adult Learn to Sail graduates
• Members seeking more time on the water
• Sailors of all experience levels

How It Works

Sign-up forms are available for both crew and skippers. The information submitted to this list is made public, so it's up to you to decide how much of it you want advertised. Once you submit the form, your information will be added to the list.

Note: You cannot edit an entry once submitted, so please proofread carefully. Email webmaster@ncyc.net if you wish your entry deleted.

Get More Experience

NCYC is a working club, with an active membership and community of primarily sailors. There are races most Wednesday nights during the summer and skippers are often looking for additional crew members. We have one of the largest cruising fleets on Lake Erie, and you'll see members taking their boats out for day or evening sails.

We will happily connect you up with one of the club mentors in order to give you additional sailing experience. Also - don't be shy - introduce yourself at the bar. You'll be surprised how easy it is to get out on a boat!
